Tournaments

Open Dagger *In place of Audacious Knife Fight*

In this tournament, participants will compete with rondel daggers on wrestling mats. Grappling and throws will be allowed. No socks or shoes permitted. Mouthguards required.

Steel Armor Prize Fights

Individual prize fights will be organized for fighters with their own steel armor kits. Each participant will have one fight, involving 3 passes with the spear, 3 passes with the ax, and 3 passes with the sword. Participants will have access to a dagger for all passes.

Coached Sword and Buckler Tournament

Using the standard IGX Spring fencing rule set, this tournament will provide fencers with experienced sword and buckler coaches to provide guidance throughout their matches.

Counted Blows Open Longsword Tournament

This tournament is a non-tiered longsword open, using an innovative rule set that encourages lengthier fencing exchanges that prioritize defense. Exchanges will continue for multiple touches, rather than stopping after a single blow. Given this is an experimental pilot tournament, organizers will attempt to make time for testing of the rule set with dussack, rapier, and dagger passes, following the conclusion of the main longsword tournament.

Ranged Weapons Tournament

At this historical ranged weapons tournament, participants will demonstrate their marksmanship at the range! There will be two divisions- archery and knife throwing. Participants may compete in one or both of those divisions.

Mac Armour Tournament

Participants will fight in synthetic infantry half armor, with spear and katzbalger. Mac Armour synthetic armor will be provided.

Vale of Variables

“Vale of Variables” is a TTRPG- inspired mixed weapons event, in which teams of 3 fighters will compete in various pre-designed role play scenarios. Scenarios, weapons, and ancillary props will be provided.

Julie’s Birthday Bash

This 1 Hit Kill Tournament is a casual event to celebrate the community contributions and birthday of Julie Gaunt of Athena School of Arms! A “king of the hill” style event, the last person standing will be crowned Julie’s Champion. Stick around afterwards for cake and celebration! No registration will be required for this tournament- participants should arrive in full longsword kit or light kit. Mixed weapons, boffers and steels allowed (no polearms allowed).

Mass Melee

IGX Fall’s “Mass Melee” tradition continues! Join your clubmates to form a team of 10-20, and face off against other clubs in group formation combat!
